Looking back at the preliminary task, I think the quality of my work has improved as I learnt more about how to use photoshop so I could make more effects.
I find that my music magazine is more appealing to my audience than the college magazine as there is more going on and my college magazine is simple and basic.
The music magazine would be appealing to more as it has a wider age group to the college magazine and more people would be able to read it as the college magazine is specifically for students at a certain college.
For the cover page, I knew that I wanted a close up image of my model on my music magazine to my college magazine as it has a more professional look to it. In the college magazine, I used natural light whereas with my main product I played around with the light on Photoshop. As my model for my college magazine was smiling, I knew that I wanted my music magazine model not to.

As for my layouts, I find that the music magazine has is the best out of the two because it has more coverlines and has different fonts that makes it more attractive. The music magazine has different shapes and sizes.

In my college magazine, I mainly used just one font whereas in my music magazine there is much more. I find that my music magazine has many different fonts which would attract audience more.

The text in the coverlines on my music magazine is more directed at my target audience of 14 - 21 year old girls whereas the college magazine has less coverlines but they are more specific to students.

My original article for my music magazine was a gig guide but as I did not have photos to back it up, I made another article about a new upcoming indie artist and went with that. However, I kept my gig guide involved in the double page spread.

Researching existing products helped as it helped me find a gap in the market and has shown the conventions of teenage magazines. Looking at teenage girls magazines helped me find out what teenagers are into as well as music magazines like NME, Q and Fashion Music Style.

In order to make a good product, I had to learn how to use Photoshop which I had not used before. I found it hard at first but I have now learned how to use it to the best of my ability.
