The genre of my music magazine is Indie with a feminine approach to it. I chose this genre as there is gap for an music magazine for teenage girls that features Indie music.
The title of my music magazine is Storm and the reason behind that is that I wanted to use a strong word that is relevant and describes my target audience as strong, confident girls.
There is nothing in the frames of my images of my model as I wanted to keep it minimal and plain. The background is white as I wanted the background to have more of studio look to it and it would make my model stand out in her brightly coloured clothes. I think my layout has broken the conventional layout as I have used different colours to other music magazines.
I never used any props for the shoot, I used a white backdrop for my background as I thought it would make the model have full attention in her brightly coloured clothes. The skirt worn by the model has brightly coloured paintmarks on it which I think with the background makes the images look artistic.
My music magazine mainly consists of my friend who is posing as an up-coming female indie artist. The most important reason she was my model is because she is a girl of a similar age which relates to the target audience.
As the title of the music magazine is strong, I needed a bold font so it can remain that way. I could not used a thin font for this as it would not work together. For my title, I made the font size big as I wanted the magazine's title to be the first thing someone can see.
The written content on my magazine has the same colour scheme all the way through the magazine to keep it consistant. The fonts vary only sightly as I wanted it to be consistant and have pattern going through the magazine. All the written content on my cover page is making the consumers read it. The written content in my double page spread is mainly an article on my artist and a gig guide of 5 different female indie artists.
The music genre of my magazine is specifically Indie Music. The main way it suggests it is the artists that are involved and I think what the models are wearing add to the quirkiness of indie girls.
The fonts I used suggests it as they are not formal and edgy. I think the music genre I have chosen for my magazine has broke conventions as the genre is dominated by men and the magazine involves female indie artists.
I based my layout to be similar to the some magazines that are seen on shelves in stores so my magazine layout is very conventional.
The layout for my Contents page is is based on real magazines and the colour scheme are conventional as I based it on real magazines.
For my double page spread, I used a variety of different fonts against the black behind it. This made the title look like letters have been cut up and makes the double page spread edgy and informal. I kept the same colour scheme from the cover and contents pages but I moved it around to make my magazine interesting.
I find that I stuck with most of the conventions of a music magazine as I had an ongoing colour scheme and theme. I have images on my cover page that look like polaroids as Indie kids like photography.
